Paranjape, who has played 62 First Class matches, 44 List A matches and four ODIs for India, also pointed out that Shaw needs to lose weight to become fitter.
“If I were Prithvi, I would immediately assess and conclude that fitness is the major element missing in his game. Without fitness, his future in cricket is uncertain. I would emphasize the point that if he can lose seven to 10 kilograms, it would be an important start to gain weight without losing strength,” the former BCCI selector said.
“If I were in his shoes, I would camp with Ramji Srinivasan in Chennai for 10 days and dedicate the next two to three years completely to this transformation. The results would start showing in the next 45 to 60 days. ” he added.
Paranjape further said that Shaw needs to improve his game against spin and not lose wickets so easily.
“Let’s move on to the skills part. I have often said to him that he seems too generous with the wicket, especially against spinners. Almost every domestic spinner in India has managed to get him out. “He needs to reevaluate his game against spin,” he said.
