Fast bowler of the Indian cricket team Jasprit Bumrah will not play in the third Test match against New Zealand in Mumbai starting Friday, according to report Indian Express. India are already 0-2 down in the three-match Test series and the report says the team management is hoping to “rest” Bumrah ahead of the upcoming tour of Australia. The Indian cricketers are expected to fly to Australia on November 10 for a five-match series and Bumrah will join the team at that point. According to the report, he has already flown home to Ahmedabad. In Bumrah’s absence, Mohammed Siraj he is expected to play.

“He will not play the Test in Mumbai and has flown home. The Indian team management wanted him to get some rest so that he could recuperate his body. He will now join the Indian team when it travels to Australia,” a source told the Indian Express.

Meanwhile, head coach Gautam Gambhir on Thursday refuted claims that India’s spin bowling skill set has deteriorated over the past few years but believes the harsh nature of T20 cricket has affected the players’ defense.

India were unsuccessful again in Pune in the second Test as their 113-run defeat on a spin-friendly pitch ended their 12-year unbeaten streak on home soil.

“I don’t think so,” Gambhir said when asked whether Indian players’ negotiating skills have diminished.

“Sometimes you have to give it to the opposition. Mitchell Santner was outstanding in the last game. But yes, we will continue to work hard, we will continue to get better. Guys are putting a lot of tough yards on net.

“At the end of the day, when you play international cricket, results are important, but I don’t think our spin skills have really declined. It’s probably about continuing to work hard and getting better,” Gambhir said on the eve of the final. Test.
