KKR will not play all IPL 2025 home games at Eden Gardens. The reason is…

The under-construction Narsingarh International Cricket Stadium in Tripura could become the Kolkata Knight Riders’ second home ground for the 2025 IPL season as Kolkata’s iconic Garden of Eden will undergo a major renovation next year, a Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) official said on Friday. The construction of Narsingarh International Stadium began back in 2017 at an estimated cost of Rs. 185 crores but the stadium is not ready yet. “IPL Chairman Arun Kumar Dhumal recently visited the proposed international stadium at Narsingarh on the outskirts of the state capital. He said if the stadium is ready by February next year, it could become KKR’s second home stadium or some other state could get it. benefit,” TCA secretary Subartha Dey told PTI.

“As this is a golden opportunity to host IPL matches at the proposed stadium, we have approached a reputed construction company to expedite the work and complete it by February 2025.

“TCA will review the construction work and if the agency does not meet the deadline, we will stop it and hire a new firm to complete the remaining work,” he said.

Over the past seven years, the agency has completed 80 percent of the project, although the project duration was only 22 months.

Dey said the matter was discussed at the TCA general meeting held here on Thursday where it was decided to make every effort to complete the work on the stadium by the deadline.

“If we can complete the stadium by February next year, I am confident that I will be able to host at least two KKR IPL matches at the Narsingarh International Cricket Stadium,” he said.
