The BCCI conducted a thorough review of India’s 3-0 debacle against New Zealand, picked rank turners for the Mumbai Test and discussed the coaching styles of rested Jasprit Bumrah and Gautam Gambhir. Skipper Rohit Sharma, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gambhir, BCCI general secretary Jay Shah, president Roger Binney and others were present. Gambhir participated in the meeting online. It turns out there were questions about certain decisions made by team management during the series.

There was also discussion about Gambhir’s coaching style, which is very different from his predecessor Rahul Dravid’s, and how the team is adjusting to it.

“After such a fiasco, it was obviously a six-hour marathon meeting as planned. India are off on tour to Australia and the BCCI wants to ensure the team gets back on track. We want to know what BCCI is thinking. Tank (Gambir Rohit Agarkar) is working on it,” a senior BCCI source familiar with the development told PTI on condition of anonymity.

BCCI mandarins said pace spearhead Bumrah, the team’s vice-captain, was rested for the third Test and why the team chose the rank turner after losing on a similar surface in Pune. It turns out that I wasn’t necessarily satisfied.

“Although it was a precautionary measure, Bumrah’s absence was discussed. Choosing a rank-turner despite India not doing well on this route was some of the issues discussed. ” said the official.

The three were asked to make suggestions on how corrective action could be taken.

Although it cannot be confirmed whether Gambhir’s coaching style has been questioned, it is understood that some people in the Indian team’s think tank are not on the same page with the chief coach.

The selection of Nitish Reddy, a specialist T20 all-rounder, and Harshit Rana, a rookie pacer who has played just 10 Ranji Trophy games, was not unanimous to say the least.

The Indian team will depart for Australia in two parts on November 10th and 11th.
