The topic of Champions Trophy 2025 is gaining public attention day by day. The tournament is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, but the Indian team has refused to travel to the neighboring country citing political tensions between the two countries. India is yet to visit Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, but the 1992 world champions visited India for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also announced that it had received an email from the ICC regarding India’s travel refusal.
Former Indian opener akash chopra He also expressed his opinion on the matter and said that if the Indian team opts out, there will be no Champions Trophy.
“Yes, this is an ICC event. Broadcasters are investing money for the event. But if the ICC cannot ensure India’s participation, broadcasters will not invest or there will be a financial reassessment. There will always be riders who say it will be done. If India participates, if they don’t, the funding will be significantly reduced,” Aakash said. YouTube channel.
“The last PCB Chairman during the 2023 ODI World Cup said:we go to enemy country“(We will rush into enemy territory)” There will be repercussions if Pakistan decides not to play against India in the future. India will also be affected if it does not visit Pakistan, but the sanctions will be financial and how can the ICC stop Indian funds from flowing to India? Pakistan has no such influence. This is the harsh reality. I definitely feel that there is no Champions Trophy without India. All teams, including Pakistan, understand this,” he added.
Earlier, after the ICC informed the PCB of India’s reluctance to tour India for next year’s Champions Trophy, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday told the government about the next course of action. Discussions have begun with senior officials.
“Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is in touch with government officials and is currently waiting to see what instructions Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will give,” a PCB official said.
The official expressed disappointment with India’s attitude even though Pakistan had promised full security to visitors during the ICC exhibition period.
“This is unacceptable as there is no logical reason for India to again refuse to send a team to Pakistan.
“Preparations for the tournament are proceeding as per schedule and we have already assured the ICC that the best security arrangements will be made for all teams, including India,” the official said.
