Australian Cricket on Friday handed Sri Lankan Test player Dulip Samaraweera a 10-year ban for alleged “inappropriate conduct”, in conjunction with a 20-year ban he was already serving. did. The 52-year-old, who played seven Tests and five ODIs in the 1990s, was appointed head coach of the Victorian women’s team in May. However, his tenure was short-lived due to allegations of inappropriate behavior towards female players.

Cricket Australia’s conduct committee in September banned him from holding any position within Cricket Australia for 20 years, but other allegations have emerged.

The incident related to an incident that allegedly occurred during a private coaching session outside of Samaraweera’s role while employed by Cricket Victoria.

“The Cricket Australia Conduct Board has made a decision regarding further allegations of inappropriate conduct against Dulip Samaraweera,” the board said.

“Mr Samaraweera denied the charges but chose not to participate in the investigation and subsequent conduct committee hearing.”

The commission did not give details of the charges, but said they would carry a 10-year prison sentence and a 20-year suspension.
