Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is likely to meet International Cricket Council (ICC) officials and speak to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi to resolve the impasse over the trophy champions. ARY news. India have made it clear that they will not be traveling to Pakistan for the tournament, while the PCB remains adamant that they will not move to a ‘hybrid’ structure. According to the report, Jay Shah will meet with ICC representatives in Dubai and then have a telephone conversation with Naqvi, during which they will try to come to a possible resolution to the crisis.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday appointed Sumair Ahmad Syed as chief operating officer of the Champions Trophy, even as uncertainty reigns over the organization of the tournament early next year.

In a PCB statement, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reiterated the board’s position that it intends to host the tournament entirely in Pakistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India had earlier informed the International Cricket Council of its reluctance to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the 50-overs competition, which the global governing body conveyed to the PCB.

Naqvi, meanwhile, expressed confidence in Syed’s abilities, calling him an “exceptionally organized professional.”

“Sumair is an exceptionally organized professional with extensive administrative experience. Coupled with his unwavering passion for cricket, I am confident that he will deliver a memorable ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to the players, officials and fans,” he said.

“The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 promises to showcase Pakistan’s ability to host world-class cricket competitions, inviting players and fans from around the world to experience the country’s passion for the game and renowned hospitality.” Syed said: “Preparations are already in full swing. “The stadium upgrade is close to completion and important discussions are ongoing with the International Cricket Council.”
