The NFL’s Best Defensives Prevent Zone Splits

It’s never too early to start preparing for next season, and for PFF this means looking for ways to improve. Premium PFF Statistics. One way to improve the quality of service is to add more data.

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve introduced a new metric we came up with, Blocking Percentage, which identifies the NFL’s best defenders at preventing separations in coverage.

Here’s how the league’s defensemen fared after 12 weeks of struggle.

What is blocking percentage?

This metric focuses on coverage and measures how well a defender prevents the receiver from getting open. This does not include plays in which the defender intentionally gives way to protect a first down marker or limit post-catch yards.
