“The BCCI has made its position clear. Now Pakistan has to decide whether they should play in a hybrid model or not. I think they should play because cricket should continue. “Pakistan will have to take a decision,” Madan Lal told ANI.
The model would allow both countries to play matches at neutral venues in ICC tournaments hosted by the other country. Sources confirmed the agreement to ESPNcricinfo, but the PCB, the official organizer of the 2025 Champions Trophy, has not commented publicly, saying only that talks are ongoing.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the agreement was reportedly reached after a meeting between new ICC chairman Jay Shah and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Dubai.
These discussions took place in parallel with a ceremonial meeting of the board that the Shah organized during his visit to ICC headquarters in his new role. A formal board meeting to discuss the Champions Trophy was scheduled for Saturday, but it was postponed.
