The Indian cricket team held its first training session on Tuesday after suffering a crushing defeat against Australia in a pink-ball Test match. Although most Indian cricketers attended the session, there were two key absentees – jasprit bumrah and Mohamed Shirazi. According to a report by sydney morning heraldboth fast bowlers skipped practice as part of workload management. However, the sight of Bumrah spending time with India’s strength and conditioning coach on the sidelines of practice sessions raised major concerns. During the second Test match, Bumrah was seen holding his inner thigh in pain and although he continued bowling, some experts remained concerned.

Former Australian cricket team fast bowler damian fleming Reacting to Bumrah’s absence from a practice session in Adelaide, he said there would be “serious questions” when it comes to him.

“There must be serious questions. Siraj may be workload (related) but I am baffled that Bumrah ignored it. They could have hidden this. I showed my hand,” he said on SEN radio.

“There’s no way it could be a cramp. After the break in the first innings, he was very energetic. He bowled again, but not as slow as in the second innings. Why did he (in the bottom of the second innings) ) I don’t even know if I bowled that one. It actually gave away some secrets to everyone,” he added.

Earlier, India bowling coach Morne Morkel assured that it was just a cramp and that the pacer was “okay”. Bumrah, who claimed an eight-wicket haul in India’s 295-run win in the series opener, showed signs of discomfort while bowling Australia’s 81st over innings.

He was treated by the team’s physiotherapist, but quickly resumed bowling, completing an over, and three more in the second half of the session.

“First of all, with Bumrah, he’s fine. Just this cramp. Yeah, because after that he bowled and got two wickets,” Morkel said in the post-match press conference. Ta.
