Speaking in the pre-match press conference before the game, Cummins said of the pitch: “The pitch looks really good, pretty consistent with what it’s been here for the last few years. I think, you know, a little bit of grass, it feels nice and firm, so they (the curators) have done a great job here, you know, probably over the last five or six years, their presentations, and I suspect it’s the same this year the most.”
The captain also admitted that bowling in extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 39 degrees, can be “hot”.
Speaking further about the wicket, Cummins called it “well balanced”.
“Nathan Lyon has had some success here and is certainly playing his part, so yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some breaks in the game,” he concluded.
