The incident took place in the fifth ball of the 71st over. Jaiswal was not ruled out on appeal after the attempted shot. However, the decision was overturned by the television umpire based on visual evidence that the ball had changed direction, although “Snico” did not pick up any spikes. Jaiswal expressed displeasure over the incident as he was seen confronting the umpire on the field.
This was a crucial moment in terms of the match result, with Jaiswal then batting on 84. After his dismissal, India suffered a late defeat, losing the match by 184 runs.

Chasing 340, a draw looked inevitable, especially after a poor second session.
But when it mattered most, India collapsed in the final session, losing their last seven wickets for 34 runs, and were defeated by Australia by 184 runs in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday.
In front of a record 74,362 fans, Australia looked to win after reducing India to 33/3 in the first session. But Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant kept them at bay in the second session as the old ball began to soften.
But in the final session of a thrilling Test match, Pant fell to Travis Head and this opened the door for an Australian invasion as India fell from 121/3 to 155. Captain Pat Cummins And Scott Boland picked three wickets in stunning bowling from Australia, who now lead 2-1 in the five-match series ahead of next week’s Test match in Sydney.
