ICC reacts to BCCI saying no to Pakistan in India’s Champions Trophy sets

Amid fresh controversy over the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s alleged refusal to print the word “Pakistan” on the team’s championship trophy sets as part of the tournament’s logo, the Indian board has received a firm message from the International Cricket Council. Media reports have said that the BCCI is not interested in having “Pakistan” written on the team’s kit as part of “host nation rules”, suggesting that the Indian team will play their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai. However, the ICC has reportedly asked the Indian board to include ‘Pakistan’ on the kit as the Indian team is the original host of the tournament.

“Each team is responsible for displaying the tournament logo on its jersey. All teams are required to abide by this rule,” an ICC official said. A-Sport.

The board also reportedly said that strict action could be taken against the Indian team if the players’ uniforms do not display the Champions Trophy logo with the name of the host nation Pakistan.

As per ICC norms, team jerseys must have the home team’s name written on it, regardless of where the matches are played.

An IANS report says the BCCI is not interested in having “Pakistan” written on the team’s jerseys, but the Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly denied receiving any such information from the Indian board.

The last few months have been quite tense between the BCCI and the PCB, especially after the Indian board refused to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Eventually a compromise was reached on the issue, although the BCCI may have to pay a huge amount for it in the near future when India hosts a couple of ICC events.

The Indian captain also remains on edge. Rohit SharmaTravel to Pakistan for a gala event with all participating team captains in attendance. It remains to be seen whether the BCCI will allow him to cross the border.
