A few weeks ago a video of a fragile Vinod Kambli went viral when he was introduced to cricket greats and his long-time roast Sachin Tendulkar during the unveiling of a monument to his coach Ramakant Achrekar. A few days later, Kambli was hospitalized due to a medical emergency. Former players love Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev expressed their concern. Although Kambli has been discharged, he continues to remain weak, as evidenced by video footage of the event in Mumbai.
Some of Mumbai’s cricketing heroes, including legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar and former player Vinod Kambli, were felicitated by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Sunday at the inauguration of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Wankhede Stadium. At this ceremony, the way Kambli approached the stage showed how weak he still was. He even met Gavaskar and touched his feet.
Also present at the event was Kambli, who was recently discharged from a local hospital after being admitted to the intensive care unit on December 21 due to health complications. He was seen being escorted as he is still on the road to recovery.

After the congratulations, Kambli spoke about his playing days at the iconic stadium.
“I remember scoring my first double hundred here against England and then scoring many more hundreds throughout my career,” he said.
“If anyone wants to play for India like me or Sachin (Tendulkar), then I would tell you to keep working hard and never stop doing it because that’s what Sachin and I have been doing since childhood.” Speaking on the occasion, MCA President Naik said, “The 50th anniversary of Wankhede Stadium is a special occasion for us. A grand celebration began today.
“Our main goal of this week-long event is to educate the next generation about the history of Mumbai cricket and the contributions of the men’s and women’s players who played for Mumbai and inspire the younger generation to build on this legacy.”
The week-long celebrations featured two exciting cricket matches involving teams from MCA, SJAM, Consul Generals and IAS officers.
Legends like Sachin Tendulkar Rohit Sharma and Dilip Vengsarkar will also take part in the grand celebration.
Other stalwarts expected to join the celebrations are former India captains. Ravi Shastri, Ajinkya Rahanecurrent T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and former captain of the national women’s team Diana Edulji.
The main event will also feature iconic Mumbai men’s and women’s players from domestic and international cricket.
