After the IPL 2025 auction, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding the Kolkata Knight Riders captaincy situation. KKR won the IPL 2024 title. Shreyas Iyerwas the captain, but the team decided to release the Indian batsman ahead of the new season. After the auction, two main candidates have emerged for the role of KKR captain – Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane is an experienced option, but given the price tag of Rs 23.75 crore, Venkatesh is the front-runner for the position. After the auction, KKR CEO Venky Mysore opened up about the situation and gave a clear answer to the captaincy conundrum.
“Well, you know that. To be honest, we need to sit down and consider the situation. Sometimes, after we’ve done all of these things, we just sit back and reflect and think about the whole thing. Things happen that have to be looked at. There are stakeholders and some of the think tanks aren’t going to be here. So we’re all going to sit down and talk about it properly and be confident that the right decisions will be made. “There are,” Mysore told the broadcaster.
Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer on Sunday took up the captaincy challenge and said he was “very happy” to step into Shreyas Iyer’s shoes.
In a bold and unexpected move, the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise will not retain 2024 IPL winning captain Shreyas Iyer in the mega auction to be held here and will move on to Royal Challengers to secure Venkatesh.・We faced an all-out battle against Bangalore.
“I had the opportunity to be the captain of the team.” Nitish RanaHe was unfortunately out due to an injury and I was also the vice-captain,” Venkatesh said after being bought by KKR for a huge sum.
“I’ve always believed that the captaincy position is just a tag, but leadership is about creating an environment where everyone feels like they can play and contribute to this team. If I’m given that responsibility, I’m happy. I want to accept it (I’m definitely ready).
“We will work together to defend the championship and continue to win. Thank you very much for choosing me to be on your team,” he added.
