Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clasico on Saturday, and the echoes of their emphatic victory reverberated around the world. Globally, there are few soccer matches, be it La Liga or the Champions League, that can match the buzz generated by the battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Prime Minister of Spain pedro Sanchez held a roadshow in Vadodara, Gujarat, and there was a lot of talk about soccer in the city.
Prime Minister Modi cited the La Liga victory between Barcelona and Real Madrid as an example, highlighting how the match was hotly debated in India, perhaps as intensely as in Spain.
“Spanish football is very popular in India. Yesterday, there was a match between Real Madrid and Barcelona, and there was a discussion in India as well. Barcelona’s stunning victory became a hot topic here as well. There was as much banter as there was in Spain among the club’s fans,” PM Modi said in a speech at the event.

As for the roadshow, both the prime ministers waved to the crowds gathered along the 2.5-kilometre route from the airport to the city’s upcoming Tata Aircraft Complex.
Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Sanchez were greeted by performances by various artists showcasing India’s rich culture as they headed to the Tata Advanced Systems facility.
The two leaders jointly inaugurated the Tata Advanced Systems facility before heading to the historic Lakshmi Vilas Palace for bilateral talks.
Tata Advanced Systems’ C-295 aircraft manufacturing facility will be India’s first private sector military aircraft final assembly line.
As part of the agreement, up to 40 aircraft will be manufactured at the Vadodara facility and aviation giant Airbus will directly deliver 16 of the aircraft.
Tata Advanced Systems will be responsible for manufacturing these 40 aircraft in India, making this facility India’s first private sector final assembly line (FAL) for military aircraft.
This includes the complete development of a complete ecosystem, from manufacturing to assembly, testing and certification, and delivery and maintenance throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
Apart from Tatas, key defense public sector and private MSMEs such as Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics will contribute to the programme.
