The IPL 2025 Mega Auction was a thrilling affair with a total of 577 players participating. The event, which lasted two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, saw 182 players sold for a whopping sum of Rs 639.15 million. All 10 franchises spent days and weeks brainstorming and assembling promising teams for the upcoming IPL season. Mega auctions mean that each team has to let go of some of their star players and this is exactly what happened during Chennai Super Kings’ chase when they were forced to part ways with their pacer. The Indian star pacer joined CSK in 2018 and played 76 matches for CSK. In an intense spell, he contributed significantly to CSK’s title wins in 2018, 2021 and 2023. However, he was released by the five-time champions ahead of the 2025 auction and bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 9.25 billion.
During his stint with CSK, Chahar took 76 wickets and troubled opposition batsmen with his ultimate pace. Apart from this, he even proposed to his wife Jaya Bharadwaj (his girlfriend at the time) in the stands in Dubai during a match against Punjab Kings in 2021.
As Chahal parted ways with CSK, his wife Jaya took to Instagram to share a series of pictures along with a heartfelt message for the five-time champion.
Jaya wrote in the caption: “From cheering in the stands to celebrating our love on the field where we said ‘yes’ in front of the entire crowd. My heart will always be with this team. I’ll be forever grateful for the wonderful memories. @chennaiipl,” he wrote. .
