Heavyweight gold is on the line when Daniel Dubois puts the IBF championship on the line against former two-time unified champion Anthony Joshua on Saturday. As important as the championship is, the fact that the winner is positioned for a huge potential fight with the winner of the upcoming rematch between unified champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury even bigger.
Both Dubois and Joshua have been beaten by Usyk but neither has had the chance for a huge all-British showdown with Fury. The easiest path to a rematch with Usyk or a mega-fight with Fury is to win on Saturday and retain IBF gold.
Both are coming off big wins, with Dubois stopping Filip Horgovich and Joshua scoring Knockout of the Year contender against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Heavyweight title fights draw a lot of attention, and in the modern sports landscape, that means big action in the sportsbooks. With that in mind, we’ve put together our best bets for Saturday’s card. Let’s take a look at the best bets for the Dubois vs. Joshua card.
Daniel Dubois vs. Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua to win rounds 1-6 (+200)
Joshua is prone to disappointing performances from time to time and Dubois is dangerous enough to take Joshua down. That said, the holes in Dubois’ defense are impossible to ignore. Dubois won the interim IBF title — later promoted to the full championship — by stopping Filip Horgovich in eight rounds. But in those eight rounds, Horgovic outscored Dubois in power punches, connecting at 67 to Dubois’ 62. Much tougher than Joshua Horgovich and tougher than Usyk, who stopped Dubois in their 2023 bout. Joshua seems motivated and this is a huge fight for him in the later stages of his career, so it’s easy to see a fight where Joshua takes advantage of Dubois’ defensive irresponsibility and brings things to a quick and brutal conclusion.
Hamza Shiraz vs. Tyler Denny
Hamza Shiraz to win rounds 1-6 (+135)
Sheraj-1000 must win to go to 7.5 overs this fight -125 under. It doesn’t take deep analysis to realize that Shiraz at +135 to win the first half of the fight is a reasonable bet when these factors are considered. Shiraz has only gone past the sixth round three times in 20 fights and this is set to be a showcase fight for him with Denny putting the European middleweight title on the line. Shiraz should be able to come through with a first-half stoppage unless Denny does enough ugly to pull through in the next round.
Two-legged pearls
Joshua Buatsi and Anthony Cacas Moneyline (-105)
Josh Warrington is facing the caucus. Warrington is on the back burner of his career and is 1-3-1 in his most recent five fights. Each of those fights put a lot of extra mileage on Warrington’s body, and Cacques is in position to continue a solid run that has seen him go on a seven-fight win streak. Buatsi is in a tough fight with Willie Hutchinson but has the quality to come out on top in this meeting. At 18-0 with 13 knockout wins, Buatsi has yet to taste defeat in his professional career and has faced a slightly better level of competition than Hutchinson in his career, making him a solid matchup in this two-leg parlay.
