The Indian men’s cricket team met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese ahead of a two-day practice match in Canberra. Returning Indian Captain Rohit Sharma introduced Mr. Albanese to the entire Indian team. Although the Australian Prime Minister only met members of the Indian team for a short period of time, he did have several “heated” discussions with Virat Kohli. In a video that surfaced on social media, Mr Albanese was seen having a cheeky conversation with Virat in which he praised the Indian cricket icon’s performance in Perth in the first Test.
“Good time in Perth. Damn, as if we haven’t suffered enough at this point,” the Australian Prime Minister said while meeting the Indian team. It was Kohli’s response that won the hearts of everyone on social media. “You always need to add a little spice,” Kohli said in response.

The practice match was scheduled ahead of the Indian team’s pink ball match against Australia in Adelaide.

“The squad has a mix of experience and promising upcoming Australian cricket players. The Prime Minister’s XI provides an opportunity for a talented team to impress a strong Indian team in their only knock against the pink ball before the second Test,” Cricket Australia’s chief selector said. George Bailey said.
“We take the opportunity to support Scott Bolandhis fitness in his preparation as part of the Test team. We thank the Prime Minister for his contribution to the team, which includes some of the brightest young players in the country combined with some very experienced players,” he added.

The last time India didn’t have a memorable performance in Adelaide in a pink ball Test (in 2020), they famously lost by 36 runs in the second innings. Although India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that year, the ghosts of that collapse still haunt the team.
