What was almost unthinkable a few days ago now seems possible. Rohit SharmaThe India-led cricket team is just one defeat away from beating New Zealand at home. For the first time in 18 series (which spanned 12 years), India lost a Test series at home. India’s record of 18 consecutive wins in bilateral home series has come to an end – the longest such streak by any team.
New Zealand now leads India’s three-match Test series 2-0, with the final game to be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 1.
“For any visiting team, winning a Test series in India is a dream and New Zealand played very well to make it a reality. Such results can only be achieved through a good, all-round team effort. Special mention to Santner for his outstanding performance, taking 13 wickets. Congratulations to New Zealand on this phenomenal achievement!” Sachin Tendulkar published on X.

Just like in the first match, India’s batters did not live up to expectations except for a few good shots.
Coming into the match with a 1-0 lead, the Kiwis managed to maintain the momentum.
In the final session of the third day we played to prevent defeat. Ravindra Jadeja And Ravichandran Ashwin were on a roll and made a crucial 33-run partnership. But it was Mitchell Santner who dismissed Ashwin to move closer to a memorable victory.
Akash Depth replaced Ashwin and tried to hit a few boundaries with Jadeja to seal the miracle win, but the Kiwis’ lethal attack took control of the game again. Ajaz Patel removed Akash in the 59th over.
Just one wicket away from winning the game, Tom Latham used Kiwi spinners to complete the match on day three. However, there is nothing left to lose, Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah continued to push boundaries.
In the 61st over, Ajaz picked the last wicket of the game and helped New Zealand to a historic 113-run win. The Kiwi spinner removed Jadeja as the Indian all-rounder took the plunge. Tim Southey The one present at the long-on calmly took the catch and ended the game.
It was Santner who shone in the Pune Test, picking 13 wickets in the second match of the series. Santner led the Kiwi bowling attack in the second innings, taking six wickets and making 104 runs in 29 overs. Ajaz took two important wickets. Glenn Phillips chose one.
India were reeling at 178/7 at TEA with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja unbeaten on 9 (10) and 4 (13) respectively.
Previously, Gautam Gambhir, Yashasvi Jaiswal And Shubman Gill looked to structure India’s 359-run chase against the New Zealanders with some smart knocks. But Mitchell Santner stalked the Indian batters with his absolute precision to take New Zealand closer to victory.
Gill (23) fell back quite early in the session with Jaiswal (77) leading by one length. Daryl Mitchell. Washington Sundar was promoted to join stalwart Virat Kohli in the fold.
The duo adopted a defensive approach that allowed the New Zealand bowlers to control the game. Mitchell Santner caught Kohli (17) before the stumps with an arm blow and Rishabh Pant fled to further add to India’s woes.
Sarfaraz Khan could not cope with the ball, which bounced off his bat and crashed into the stumps. Sundar was forced to return to the dressing room after Will Young took a spicy catch.
In the first hour of the third day, Ravindra Jadeja was the architect of New Zealand’s downfall, making quick work of its tail.
After limiting the Kiwis to 255, Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma arrived at the field with ammunition. Mitchell Santner upped the ante after Tim Southee and William O’Rourke lost their attacking advantage with the new ball. Santner came into the fray and made an impact. Rohit tried to counter Santner but his exploits failed.
He stepped forward in an attempt to negate Santner’s delivery but ended up passing the ball straight to Will Young.
