Former RCB coach Alan Donald invites Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah to SA20 league

Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has, in a way, paved the way for Indian players to quit playing domestically and play in overseas franchise T20 leagues, and in the future, Indian cricketers seeking riches in similar leagues. There are expectations that the number of athletes will increase. BCCI regulations prohibit Indian players from playing in foreign T20 leagues, but former South African pacer and SA20 ambassador Alan Donald believes that someday Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will play in South Africa’s domestic T20 leagues. He said he would like to see him play in the SA20 league, which is a T20 league.

Kartik will be a part of Pearl Royals in the upcoming third season of SA20, which will be held from January 9 to February 8, 2025.

SA20 ambassador and South African fast bowling legend Donald spoke about which Indian players he would like to include in SA20. Hey, if it’s a batsman, it’s 100 per cent Virat Kohli (Jasprit) Bumrah, can you imagine that? Can you actually imagine some Indian players? Oh, that’s the most special thing. ”

“It’s going to take it to another level. It’s going to add another level to how big this tournament can be, if it’s allowed. Imagine two, oh, each imagine two on the team But we’ll keep it one.”If I had to choose between a batsman or a bowler, I would definitely take both of them, Kohli and Bumrah,” Donald said during an online meeting hosted by SA20 India on Monday. He spoke at a networking event.

Durban Super Giants assistant coach Donald said of Kartik’s involvement in SA20, “I think it’s great because we’ve seen him come into the team. An absolute Indian legend has achieved this. It’s a really great thing to do.” – For me, he is a very intelligent cricketer and I really enjoy listening to his commentary. And it’s great to see him being a great cricketer. We have a player on our roster who is a former international and has a lot of experience in the IPL, so it would be great to see him play.

Donald, known around the world as ‘White Lightning’ for his blistering speed that has terrified batsmen in international cricket for more than a decade after South Africa’s return from apartheid ban, said Kartik will be playing in the SA20s as a young cricketer. He said it was great for the players.

“Like everywhere else in the world, young cricketers aspire to the Indian superstars, the Indian Premier League and what it stands for. It’s getting bigger, better and faster. To play himself in SA20. It’s great just to hear that he’s still a great cricketer and that he’s playing for India. “To promote SA20…I thought it was really great for him, it will definitely mean a lot to the young cricketers,” Donald said. He retired from Test cricket with 330 wickets in 72 Tests and 272 scalps in 164 ODIs.

Since retiring, Donald has worked as a bowling coach and consultant for the England team, Warwickshire and Kent County Cricket Clubs, the Zimbabwe and South African national teams, and the Bangladesh and Sri Lankan national teams.

In the IPL, he was the bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011, and the bowling coach and head coach of Pune Warriors India in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
