The eternal dice of change continues to roll in Pakistan cricket under the leadership of the white ball coach Gary Kirsten is reportedly planning to leave. Kirsten, who won the 2011 ODI World Cup at MS Dhoniled by the Indian team is on the verge of ending its association with the Pakistan men’s cricket team, according to a report, just 4 months after being charged. A lot has changed since Kirsten took over as Pakistan’s ODI and T20I head coach. Babar AzamThe captain’s return as captain and then his resignation, as well as changes in the selection committee, are some of the issues that highlight his four-month tenure.
According to a report in CreekbuzzOver the past few weeks, serious disagreements have arisen between Kirsten and the players. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may not have directly influenced Kirsten to consider his future with the men’s national team, his recent request to appoint David Reed as high performance coach was rejected by the board. The PCB came up with a few more names as alternatives, which disappointed Kirsten.
While a formal decision on the matter is yet to be taken, the PCB may name Kirsten’s successor in the coming days. Jason GillespieThe current men’s red-ball team coach is reportedly one of the leading candidates for the role.
The PCB may also prescribe Aaqib Javedthe former Pakistan pacer is on pace as a white-ball coach, keeping the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in mind. Aaqib is currently one of the members of Pakistan’s national selection committee. His work behind the scenes reportedly played a big role in the team’s victory over England in the recently concluded three-match series, which ended 2-1 in the hosts’ favor.
The Pakistan Cricket Board recently announced the squads for the white-ball matches against Australia and Zimbabwe. It was also reported that Kirsten will not accompany the teams in these two episodes.
