Cricket is a religion in India and the top cricketers are admired more than anyone else in the country. Virat Kohli is one of the icons of Indian cricket with a huge fan following. Fans sometimes even cross certain lines to meet or catch a glimpse of a superstar. However, this is only one side of the story. How do Kohli and other stars feel? Australian star and former Royal Challengers Bengrul player Glenn Maxwell gave a glimpse of what it feels like for a player like Kohli to face such fans.
Maxwell recalled an incident when he and Kohli were heading to the RCB team hotel on their way back from practice when they were stalked by a fan. Maxwell revealed that things got very tough for Kohli as a group of Kohli’s fans spotted the Indian star and went crazy trying to get his attention.
“There was a training session and me and him went to training pretty early and got everything done. I think it was an optional session, so we batted together and batted for a while and then finished I said, “Oh, I could do that.” We drove back to the hotel. ” We jumped in the car, but alarm bells immediately went off in my head. There was a security guard in the front seat of the car and a car full of police in the back,” Maxwell said. LISTNR Podcast.
“As we were driving out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium, people noticed that Virat was in the car and started punching the windows like they were punching cars. I was just looking at him and thinking, “How do you deal with this on a daily basis?” The car didn’t have dents everywhere. ”, but he just shrugged it off. “What I’m going through is a horrible way to live for him,” he added.
