The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) will make its long-awaited return to the mat on Friday, October 18th. The battle for breath will begin with a thrilling opener as Telugu Titans and Bengaluru Bulls clash at the GMCB Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli. in Hyderabad. Ahead of the new season, a grand launch event was held at the Hyatt Place in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. PKL League Commissioner and Head of Mashal Sports Mr. Anupam Goswami attended the event along with team captains Pawan Sehrawat (Telugu Titans) and Pardeep Narwal (Bangalore Bulls).
The captains of the other 10 teams were also present at the opening of the PKL season.
One of the highlights of the day was an exhibition match featuring PKL captains and a team of exceptional creators, which was a result of our partnership with Meta. Some of the eminent creators present at the match included Big Nerds, Hardik Banga, Sidhant Sarfare, Ashish Singh and others who brought a fresh and exciting dynamic to the sport.
Expressing his thoughts on the journey so far and the upcoming season, Mr. Anupam Goswami, Commissioner of the Pro Kabaddi League said, “The first decade of the PKL has been a huge achievement, but for us the focus is on using the experience to help prepare for the next phase and continue the story. success. Telugu Titans captain Pawan Sehrawat also shared his excitement for the first match saying, “I am very excited that we, Telugu Titans, will be playing the first game of the season in Hyderabad in front of our home fans. The fans have always supported us. There are many of us, and we are sure that when we come out on the carpet, there will be even more of the same. The team is in good condition and we are confident that we will perform well.”
Bengaluru Bulls captain Pardeep Narwal was ready for the challenges ahead as he returns to the team that gave him his PKL debut. Ahead of the first match, he said: “PKL Season 11 is going to be huge and we are very excited to take part in the tournament and we have been preparing well for this throughout the pre-season. Our team is very well balanced and the Bulls are looking to get off to a strong start.”
The preparations for PKL 11 began on a historic note with eight players being auctioned in Mumbai for over INR 1 crore. After Pawan and Pardeep take to the mat on Friday, the second match of the evening will see U Mumba’s Sunil Kumar – the most expensive Indian defender in PKL history after being bought for INR 1,015 crore – take on the attacking prowess of star-studded Naveen Kumar Raiders Dabang Delhi, KS.
This time, PKL will return to the tri-city format and in 2024 the tournament will begin at the GMCB Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from October 18 to November 9. It will then move to the Noida Indoor Stadium for the return match. from November 10 to December 1. The third phase will begin at the Badminton Hall at Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune from December 3 to 24.
