Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Tim Patrick becomes Detroit’s third wide receiver: Patrick was consistently on the field in three-receiver sets.
Patrick made his Lions debut in Week 2, often lining up alongside him. Amon-Ra St. Brown And Jameson Williams in three-receiver sets. He played 77% of the 11-man snaps when the full receiving corps was available and saw that number rise to 92% during Williams’ two-game suspension.
Lions fourth wide receiver Khalif Raymondwas placed on injured reserve earlier this week with a foot injury. Usually, when Patrick wasn’t on the field, Raymond took his place in three-receiver sets.
With Raymond sidelined, Patrick played 100% of the snaps with 11 players. He also switched to two-receiver sets whenever someone needed a break. Former Bear Allen Robinson stepped into the fourth wide receiver role, often taking Williams’ snaps in three-receiver sets after Williams made a big play.
While Patrick’s expanded role last week only resulted in 30 yards receiving, he is poised to make multiple catches every game moving forward in this slightly increased capacity.
Monitor Roshon Johnsonhealth: Johnson was diagnosed with a concussion but was later ruled out.
Johnson was the clear second running back on the Bears’ depth chart, playing a significant role on third downs and in some short-yardage situations. However, he only saw two offensive snaps on third downs in that game before leaving with an injury.
After Johnson left Travis Homer moved to the position of third defender. Homer also took snaps during a two-minute drill to end the first inning. He began the season as the Bears’ third back, a role he was familiar with while playing in Shane Waldron’s Bears offense. Seattle Seahawks. Although Waldron has since moved on, Homer has another connection with new offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, who coached him as offensive coordinator and running backs coach during Homer’s three years at the University of Miami.
If Johnson misses overtime, Homer will likely fill that role again, and the change should have minimal impact on D’Andre SwiftFantasy production.

- David Montgomery And Amon-Ra St. Brown were questionable heading into this game, but both players were active and played their normal number of snaps.
- Maurice Alexander was released from the practice squad on Wednesday to take over Khalif Raymondplace in the lineup. Alexander was used as a returner.
- Bears backup wide receiver Tyler Scott was a healthy inactivist for the second game in a row.
