There has been a lot of talk about the star fast bowler of the Indian cricket team. jasprit bumrahBumrah suffered from back spasms and was unable to bowl during the last Test match against Australia in Sydney. The fast bowler appeared to be bothered during the match and was taken to hospital for tests. According to the report, Hindustan TimesBumrah consulted New Zealand-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rowan Schouten about the injury. “The surgeon is in touch with the BCCI medical team and the selectors will be informed.”
The report further claimed that Bumrah is likely to be selected in the 15-man squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy, but will only play if he is “free of pain after returning to bowling”.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer mohammad kaif Expresses concern over Jasprit Bumrah’s success Rohit Sharma as India’s Test captain.
Kaif stressed that appointing Bumrah as captain would put undue strain on the pacer and could affect both his health and longevity. Instead, he advocated a batter who: KL Rahul or rishabh pantsassume leadership roles and ensure stability and continuity of performance.
Speculation about India’s Test captaincy has intensified after Rohit Sharma’s absence from the Sydney Test during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. According to reports, Rohit may step back from the Test captaincy permanently, paving the way for a potential successor. Jasprit Bumrah, who briefly captained India in the Perth and Sydney Tests, has been floated as a candidate for the role, but Kaif strongly believes this is a mistake.
“BCCI should think twice before appointing Jasprit Bumrah as full-time captain,” Kaif wrote on X.
“He just needs to focus on taking wickets and staying fit. He has more responsibility as a leader and getting carried away too much can lead to injuries and cut short what could have been a great career. Yes, please don’t kill the golden goose.
