The international cricket stadium under construction in Tripura’s Narsinghul will serve as the second home of Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2025 IPL season, as Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens is set for a major renovation next year. Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) officials said this could happen. on friday. Construction of the International Stadium in Narsinghal began in 2017 with an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore. $185 million, but the stadium is not yet completed. “IPL chairman Arun Kumar Dhumal recently visited the upcoming international stadium in Narsinghul on the outskirts of the state capital. The stadium will become KKR’s second home base if it is ready by February next year. “There is merit in saying that there is a possibility or that other states may get it,” TCA Secretary Svarta Dey told PTI.

“As this is a great opportunity to host IPL matches at the proposed stadium, we have summoned reputed construction contractors and requested them to expedite the work and complete it by February 2025.

“TCA will examine the construction work and if TCA cannot meet the deadline, it will stop the work and a new company will complete the remaining work,” he said.

Although the project had a deadline of just 22 months, the agency has completed 80% of it so far over the past seven years.

Dey said the issue was discussed during the general meeting of TCA held here on Thursday and it was decided to make all-out efforts to complete the work on the stadium by the stipulated time.

“We are confident that we can host at least two IPL matches for KKR at the Narsinghgarh International Cricket Stadium if we complete the stadium work by February next year,” he said.
