Mohammed Shami sends massive Champions Trophy message to Indian selectors – Video

pacer Mohamed Shami He is reportedly preparing to join the Indian squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Shami has been ruled out of Team India’s international matches in 2024 due to a lingering knee injury and missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, in recent months, the fast bowler has been in regular action in domestic cricket, showing that he could still be ready for the Champions Trophy. Shami shared a video of himself training on social media and made his intentions clear.

In the video, Shami can be seen sweating in preparation for domestic team Bengal’s upcoming match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shami is also seen wearing kneecaps to protect himself during this training video.

The big concern for Shami is whether he can bowl long spells and full quarters consistently. But if the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy matches are anything to go by, Shami seems ready.

Shami played nine matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and took 11 wickets. He missed the first match against Vijay Hazare due to heel inflammation, but returned and bowled eight overs against Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Shami also makes a stronger case for selection due to his form with the bat. Shami made a cameo appearance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with a 17-ball 32 and then went on to score 42 off 34 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Madhya Pradesh as Bengal’s reliable No. 8. indicated its status.

If Shami’s fitness is not an obstacle, he should be a shot-in for India. The 34-year-old was India’s top wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup, which was the last time India played 50 overs of cricket at a time.

The team for the Champions Trophy is scheduled to be announced by January 12, leaving only a short amount of time for the BCCI selection committee. Ajit Agarkar Make final decision on Shami. However, please note that team changes can only be made up to one week before the start of the Champions Trophy.
