The confrontation between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head continues to be a topic of discussion. The verbal exchange between Siraj and Head took place on the second day of the Adelaide Test between India and Australia. Siraj was hit for six by Head, but the Indian pacer fought back and got the batter out on the very next ball. A fiery Siraj followed the wicket with lively celebrations and Head clearly didn’t like it. The Australian batter exchanged a few words with Siraj and things ended on a bad note.

Interestingly, Head said after the day’s play that he jokingly told Siraj to “play well” after which the bowler reacted like that. While Siraj was asked about the same incident, quoting Head as saying that the Australia batter “lied” and also abused him during that face-off.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar believes that the Australian fans will target Siraj and the pacer will face serious difficulties because of this.

“Siraj will get a bit of spit from the crowd wherever he goes because once the Aussies identify someone who is supposed to be the villain of the piece, they will be all over him. In the case of England it was Stuart. When Broad travels, there are front-page stories telling Australians to boo him when Broad doesn’t walk, when he slips away from the ball,” Gavaskar said. India today.

“I think for the Australian team Siraj will be the villain and he will have to live with that. It will be important for the rest of the team to come to his side and tell him, “Listen. Come out.” and do the best you can,” he added.

However, Head and Siraj made peace when the latter took the field the day after the incident during the Adelaide Test.
