India station wagon Nitish Kumar Reddy thanks his teammate Mohammed Siraj after the pacer played a major role in the youngster registering his maiden Test century in the ongoing 4th Test against Australia on Saturday. For the unversed, Reddy was not out on 99 when Siraj, India’s tail-spinner, came out to bat behind him. Jasprit Bumrahdismissal. Captain Australia Pat Cummins dismissed Jasprit Bumrah for a duck on the third ball of the 114th over, raising doubts about Reddy’s century. Siraj was the last Indian batter to step into the middle and needed to survive three balls from Cummins before Reddy could hit back.
Despite Cummins bowling at full capacity, Siraj managed to survive, allowing Reddy to save the strike for the next over. Reddy then hit Scott Boland abroad in the next century to complete its centenary.
If Siraj had not survived this from Cummins, Reddy would have remained in 99th position. The youngster acknowledged his teammate’s contribution and thanked Siraj while teasing him about his remark about Jasprit Bumrah after the T20 World Cup final in Barbados earlier this year.
“I only believe in Yassi bhaiHe is a game-changing player,” an emotional Siraj said after Bumrah’s match-winning spell in the final against South Africa.
“I believe in Siraj bhai too,” Reddy captioned a photo of himself hugging Siraj.
Reddy’s unbeaten 105 led India’s spirited fight as they reached 358/9, trailing Australia by 116 runs. Siraj also did not lose a single match.
Reddy came into bat at a dangerous moment as India were bowled out at 221/7. Rishabh Pant (28) and Ravindra Jadeja (17) Early in the morning at the session. Undaunted by the mounting pressure, the 21-year-old showed incredible grit and determination to demonstrate his ability to rise to the occasion against a formidable Australian bowling line-up.
