Northeast United FC came from two goals behind to win 5-2 against Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) here on Monday. Prior to this game, Hyderabad FC had conceded six goals in 60 minutes this season, but with just over 30 minutes remaining, NorthEast United FC scored three goals and conceded three more. Hyderabad FC stepped up their attack from the start, with Edmilson Correia scoring the lone goal in the 5th minute. He took an early lead by diving into the box from the left, beating the challenges of Dinesh Singh and Asheel Akhtar with quick footwork, and slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.
Seven minutes later, Cy Goddard perfectly controlled the ball in a central space outside the 18-yard box. He passed to Sourav K. on the right, and his perfectly weighted cross was deflected and met by Correia, who slotted it into the bottom right corner to make it two.
The home team managed to get through the rest of the second half without posing much of a threat on goal, but Northeast United FC’s attack intensified in the second.
In the 54th minute, McCarton Nixon took an ingenious shot from long range and sent it into the right corner of the goal. However, the shot evaded Lenny Rodriguez’s deflection and landed almost in the center of the goal, tying the score.
It was ultimately ruled an own goal by the Hyderabad FC midfielder.
Seven minutes later, Guillermo combined with Alaedin Ajalai to give the visitors the lead.
The Hyderabad FC defense looked a bit confused as Ajalai attempted a powerful shot from the edge of the box. The shot lacked precision, but Guillermo deftly took advantage of the deflection and fired it into the bottom right corner.
