Premier League club Southampton on Saturday appointed Ivan Juric as their new manager on an 18-month contract. The former Roma and Torino coach will replace the sacked Russell Martin. The south coast club are bottom of the table and nine points safe heading into their clash with Fulham on Sunday. Martin was sacked following last weekend’s embarrassing 5-0 home defeat to Tottenham.
Saints said Jurich had a reputation for “helping his teams overcome adversity.”
“I’m very happy,” said the 49-year-old. “I think it’s a really big challenge, but I’m very optimistic because I see a team that can do better.
“It’s important to immediately establish contact with the fans. I want an aggressive team and I think the Southampton fans will like that.”
