Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have appointed Paras Mhambri as their bowling coach, the franchise announced on Wednesday.

MI said in a statement that Mhambri, who was India’s bowling coach from November 2021 until their 2024 T20 World Cup triumph in June, will work alongside the current bowling coach. Lasith Malingaas part of the coaching team under the leadership of the head coach Mahela Jayawardene.

This will be Mhambri’s second stint with MI after previously serving in the support team as they won the 2013 IPL, the T20 Champions League (2011, 2013), a runners-up finish (2010) and two more appearances in the IPL playoffs.

Mkhambri, who was discovered by the BCA Mafatlal bowling scheme under English fast bowling great Frank Tyson in 1990, played two Tests and three ODIs for India from 1996 to 1998. But he had a distinguished cricket career in Mumbai, where he became a member of five-time Ranji Trophy winners.
