As the Indian cricket team looks at defeat to New Zealand, having already lost 2 matches of the series, captain Rohit Sharma a bold message was sent to dodge Jasprit Bumrah. Arguably the best bowler in the country, Bumrah was not as effective as the team would have liked on spin-able pitches against New Zealand. Ahead of the third Test at Wankhede, Dinesh Karthik told the Indian team management to give Bumrah a rest ahead of the Australia tour.
“Jasprit Bumrah, no doubt, definitely needs rest. It’s happening and you’ll see Mohammed Siraj come in. I can’t think of any other changes unless someone is nitpicking. I don’t see any reason why the batters who have played this game or the bowlers shouldn’t get a chance,” Karthik said. Creekbuzz.
Washington Sundar was the best batsman for India in the Pune Test, which was largely dominated by spinners. However, India failed to equalize with a win, suffering their second consecutive defeat and losing the series 0–2.
While no major reaction is expected from the Indain team ahead of the mandatory Test at Wankhede, given the World Test Championship, some changes are expected to be made to the XI.
Karthik doesn’t think much changes will be made to Team India’s squad despite their dismal performance in the first two matches. But Mohammed Siraj replacing Jasprit Bumrah is a change that the former India batter believes will actually happen.
“The defeat and the disappointment of losing still weigh heavily on my head. I can’t clearly imagine what the lineup will be like. Frankly, this is too short a time frame. But if I had to think right away, I would say rest Bumrah and bring back Siraj,” added Karthik.
