Conversation between Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir and Jasprit Bumrah©AFP
captain of india Rohit Sharma In a press conference after the Melbourne Test, he claimed to have discussed a range of issues with players in the team, including but not limited to selection in the eleven. However, a report has exploded alleging that communication between Rohit and certain “not-so-junior” players in the team has broken down. Gautam Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid As the head coach of the Indian national team. Never one to shy away from speaking his mind, Rohit claims to have always kept the conversation open with his players, but that doesn’t seem to be the whole reality.
According to a report in PTI, captain Rohit has claimed that he is discussing the selection issue with the players individually. However, since Gambhir took over as coach in July, Rohit has actually given clear explanations to some of the not-so-junior players as to why they were sometimes left out of the squad. It is said that they have not.
His own poor form didn’t help Rohit’s cause. But we also know for sure that Gambhir, who is considered to be the more aggressive guy, doesn’t have a lot of trust from a group of players who are neither as old nor as new as Kohli and Rohit. Harshit Rana Or Nitish Reddy.
The report seems to be talking about the experienced mid-level players in the team: rishabh pants, Shubman Gill, Mohamed Shirazi, KL Rahul etc.
The report further claims that Gambhir’s role as Team India’s head coach could be in jeopardy if his performance does not improve soon. With India all but out of the ICC World Test Championship race, Gambhir’s fate as the team’s head coach may be decided in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
“The Test match will be played and then there will be the Champions Trophy. Even Gautam Gambhir’s position will not be secure if his performance does not improve,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
Gambhir’s relationship with the selection committee is also not particularly clear at this point.
