‘Royalty is…’: Post by Kolkata Knight Riders loyalist after failure to bid for franchise at IPL 2025 auction

The IPL 2025 mega auctions finally concluded on Monday with 182 players being sold for a whopping cumulative amount of Rs 639.15 crore. A total of 577 participants have been shortlisted for the two-day tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and all ten franchises have put in their best efforts to build a strong team for the upcoming IPL season. India wicket-batter Rishabh Pant made headlines as he became the most expensive purchase in IPL auction history, being sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore.

Despite all the important acquisitions, all the fans were completely shocked that the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders did not make a single bid for a batter. Nitish Rana.

The left-handed batter, who captained KKR in IPL 2023, was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 4.2 crore following a trade war with Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. After the auctions, Rana took to Instagram and shared a mysterious story that got fans talking.

Dressed in a pink tee (which is also the color of RR’s tee), Rana posted a photo with the caption, “Royal-ty pink!”

Later, the Rajasthan royals shared the photo on their X (formerly Twitter) account.

Earlier in October, KKR retained Rinku SinghVarun Chakraborty, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Harshit RanaAnd Ramandeep Singh and saved them from going under the hammer at auctions.

Before the player retention was announced, Rana made a strong case and reminded KKR that he scores runs almost every year.

“I have been with KKR for the last seven years. It is not in my hands whether they will keep me at work; that’s up to KKR management to decide. They haven’t called me yet. Every year I have scored for KKR and if they consider me an asset, they will keep me,” Rana told Times Of India.
