India vs New Zealand: Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli©AFP
Sarfaraz Khan He led India’s attack as they mounted a strong counterattack against New Zealand in the second innings of the first Test in Bangalore. Sulfaras (125, 154b) and rishabh pants (53, 56b) I had an early lunch because of the rain and there was a crease. The duo put on 113 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket in just 22 overs. The sight of Rishabh Pant at bat with Sarfaraz after he missed the third day of play due to a knee injury suffered while holding on the second day may also have eased a lot of tension in the Indian dressing room. I don’t know.
There was little doubt about the hero of the first session.
The Mumbai man, playing just his fifth Test, came back from 70 and tamed the cloudy conditions and New Zealand bowlers in perfect fashion as India added 63 before the first drinks break. Ta.
A good chunk of that came from Sarfaraz’s bat and the way he nullified the New Zealand pacer with his late cuts was just extraordinary.
In a ton, he erased the memory of a duck in the first innings. And he joined the elite club of Indian batsmen who scored big runs after ducking out in the same Test match.
