India’s star men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankirdi and Chirag Shetty withdrew from the Syed Modi International Badminton Super 300 Tournament on Tuesday. The former world No. 1 duo were touted as favorites to win the men’s doubles title here, but Satwik’s shoulder injury kept him out of competitive action after the Paris Olympics. They made their comeback last week at the China Masters Super 750 tournament, reaching the semifinals. However, B Smeeth Reddy, who trained the Indian pair ahead of the China Masters and also watched the matches, said Satwik faced “difficulties” in making a full recovery.

“Satwik has just come back from injury. They are playing for the first time in a while. They had a very busy week in Shenzhen, where they reached the semi-finals. Sometimes it is difficult to fully recover. , it is best to maintain their bodies and health ‘next season, they have decided to withdraw,’ Reddy told PTI.

The top seed was scheduled to play Chen Shujun and Guo Luo Han in the opening match, but the Chinese pair was given a bye.

India’s Mansi Singh, Tanvi Sharma, Navya Khandeli and China’s Han Qianxi have advanced to the women’s singles final.

Mansi from Uttar Pradesh defeated Praisha Bonam 21-11, 22-24, 21-12 in the preliminary round to qualify for the women’s singles final. She will face Thailand’s fourth seed Pornpicha Cheikwong in the first round.

In the men’s singles, India’s Siddharth Pratap Singh, Sunnyth Dayanand, RS Sanjeev Kumar and Malaysia’s Sule Aidil also qualified for the main draw.

In women’s doubles, India’s Kavya Gupta and Radhika Sharma, Kanika Kanwal and Bharti Pal, China’s Ken Xu Liang and Wang Tingyi, and Li Hua Zhou and Wang Tingyi successfully qualified for the main tournament. .

India’s Yash Rajkwar and T. Hem Nagendra Babu, Viplav Kwale and Viraj Kwale, China’s Chen Zhu Jun and Guo Lohan, and Thailand’s Faranyu Kaosaman and Tandaan P. The players also advanced to the men’s doubles tournament.

In mixed doubles, the Indian pairs of Ram Bhargav Arrigera and Vennala Kalagotra, Ganesh Vittal ji and Shivani Santosh Singh, and T. Hem Nagendra Babu and Kanika Kanwal also secured a place in the main tournament.
