Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) break the bank for Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant at the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction on Sunday. LSG spent Rs 27 crore on Pant, making him the most expensive buy ever in the IPL, surpassing PBKS’ bid of Rs 26.75 crore earlier in the day. Pant likely to replace India teammate KL Rahul led by LSG, with the latter parting ways with the franchise after a three-year partnership. LSG did not retain Rahul as the team that failed to qualify for the playoffs last season.
After the franchise lost the match against SRH, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was seen having an animated conversation with Rahul. Goenka was unhappy with the team’s performance in the match as SRH chased down 166 in just 9.4 overs.
After the IPL auction, a meme went viral in which Rahul apparently tells Pant that Goenka can be a tough (toxic) boss.
“Dekh Bhai, company acha hai, pay acha hai, par boss bahot toxic hai (Look brother, the company is good, the reputation is good, but the boss is very toxic),” the meme read.
During interaction on The time is nowAccording to Goenka, although he has not encountered this meme, the MSU owner admitted that he can be a tough boss if necessary.
“I haven’t seen it, but I can say that the boss is loving, caring and at the same time tough. When love is needed, he gives love. When care is needed, he also shows care. And when he threatens. bhi deta hai (I have not seen the meme, but I can once again confirm that the boss is also loving, caring and tough. When you need love, he gives you love. When you need care, he takes care of you. Just like when you you need to scold you a little, he will scold you too,” Gohena said while interacting with Times Now.
Pant could lead LSG in IPL 2025 despite franchise retaining West Indies star Nicholas Pooran for Rs 21 crore.
