India captain Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajide on Saturday announced the birth of their newborn baby. Rohit announced on Instagram that his family of three has now grown to four, saying, “The FAMILY, the one where we are four,” subtly quoting the popular comedy show Friends. He captioned his post, “November 15, 2024,” referring to his newborn child’s date of birth. Rohit and Ritika are blessed with a daughter, Samaira, who was born in 2018. The Indian captain did not travel to Perth with his team ahead of the opening match of the Border-Gavaskar series due to the birth of his second child.
With less than a week left until the start of the series, it is still unclear whether Rohit will feature in the opening Test against Australia.
Rohto’s compatriots KL Rahul and actress Athiya Shetty are also planning to embark on their parenting journey soon. Recently, the couple announced the pregnancy on their respective Instagram handles.
They dropped a note that read, “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025 (baby feet emoji).” Beautiful Notes also includes evil eye clipart.
The duo is included in India’s squad for the series. The much-awaited Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia will begin on November 22 with the first Test to be played in Perth.
The second day/night Test will be played under the lights at Adelaide Oval from December 6th to 10th. Fans will then turn their attention to The Gabba in Brisbane for the third Test from December 14 to 18.
