Tyson Fury reveals wife miscarried night before first Alexander Usyk fight: ‘It’s hard for me’

Paris Fury, wife of former unified heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, suffered a miscarriage the night before his undisputed title fight against Oleksandr Usyk in May, Tyson has revealed.

Tyson and Paris Usyk were pregnant with their eighth child before the fight. Paris did not travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the fight due to health complications. Fury opened up about the couple’s loss at a press conference Wednesday to promote Usyk vs. Fury 2 on Dec. 21.

“He lost (Child) on the Friday of the fight, which was pretty bad,” Tyson said. “I’m not making excuses but she was six months pregnant. It’s not like a small miscarriage to begin with. You have to physically give birth to a stillborn child while your husband is abroad.

“I couldn’t be there for her in that moment, and it’s hard for me. I’ve been with the woman longer than I’ve been with her, so it’s hard that I can’t be there with her.”

When dealing with fetal loss or stillbirth after 20 weeks of pregnancy, it’s common to give birth by doctor-induced labor or natural delivery.

Tyson, K Usyk fought in a split decision loss in MayHis wife became concerned after informing him that he would not be able to travel.

“When he said he couldn’t come, I knew there was a problem,” Tyson said. “He usually comes out the week of the fight but he had high blood pressure and couldn’t come. I asked him what was going on and told me but he wouldn’t come. So I knew.

“I knew. I knew there was a problem. I told my brother: ‘She’s lost that baby.’ She never told me she lost the baby, but I knew when I came back I was sure it was gone but she kept it to herself.”

Tyson was tentative about having more children, acknowledging that fetal loss is a mother’s responsibility.

“We’ve had miscarriages before and it happens,” Tyson said. “Are we going to have another baby? I don’t know if she’s back to normal from that. It takes a long time to get over it. But not this sick thing anymore because I’d break down in tears.”
