Left-arm seam bowler Yash Dayal has been added to India’s list of reserve pacers after Khalil Ahmed was forced to return home due to an unspecified minor injury. Dayal, who was added to the Test squad during the Bangladesh series, was in South Africa for the T20I series but did not play a single match. After Khalil developed a sneeze and was unable to throw into the net, he flew straight to Perth from Johannesburg. As the medical team advised rest for the left-hander from Rajasthan, it was decided that Dayal would arrive by plane and Khaleel would fly back home.
“It was a similar substitution as the Indian team needs to simulate Mitchell Starc. Dayal was originally scheduled to play in the A Test but was sent to South Africa. There was no point in keeping him back.” He is back,” a BCCI source familiar with the development told PTI on Wednesday.
Will Khalil be available for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament matches before the auction as he has been released by Delhi Capitals and wants to enjoy a bidding war between franchises during the upcoming mega auction? It is unclear whether
Dayal remained with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
On Tuesday, Yashasvi Jaiswal felt a cramp in his shoulder while batting and required medical attention.
In what was a relief for the team, Jaiswal was back in the nets on Wednesday.
